The Beregynja association cares for 100 children between the ages of four and six, and 50 between the ages of 10 and 16, many of whom have special needs. The families are struggling financially, often unable to even cover the bare necessities.

This Christmas, we want to give these children and their brave parents a little love and hope – software for the heart.

We need your help: Please give a child a Christmas gift or make donations in kind or money. Your help will reach the children directly through the Beregynja association.

In 1989, the Häferl was founded as a facility for released prisoners. Over the years, it developed into a tavern for the poor and homeless, visited by up to 400 people daily. Since its founding, the Häferl has been welcoming to anyone who would like to come – there are no prerequisites, and there's no obligation to provide identification or register.

A freshly cooked, three-course meal is served every day of the week. The biggest difference from other inns is that there's no bill for guests at the end.

Good food at affordable prices for members who work together.

MILA offers fair and transparent prices. In their minimarket, they add a 30 percent markup to the purchase price of all products to finance operations. This makes many products at MILA cheaper than in conventional supermarkets.

Books4Life is a network of charitable second-hand bookstores dedicated to supporting social organizations and projects through the sale of used books.

The association consists exclusively of volunteers who work in the shop or in the association's administration. This allows them to easily and directly pass on 90% of their sales to their donation partners. In this way, Books4Life aims to contribute to a fairer society and help shape Vienna as a place to live.

The online resource guterzweck.net is an information platform aimed at people interested in sustainability and social issues. Our articles reach millions of readers annually. Organizations have the opportunity to introduce themselves and share their commitment.

Many people want to help, but do not know how to behave when they see the sleeping quarters of an acutely homeless person in winter.

If you notice a homeless person sleeping and would like to help quickly and easily, please call our cold weather hotline at 01 480 45 53. The hotline is staffed 24/7 from November to the end of April. You can also send us an email to kaeltetelefon@caritas-wien.at.

The mobile outreach van operates daily to respond to reports of cold weather. Due to the high volume of reports in the Vienna area, immediate intervention cannot be guaranteed. In acutely life-threatening situations or when health is at risk, it is essential to call emergency services at 144 immediately.

Charity Heroes Austria visits disadvantaged children as their favorite heroes.

A hero is needed and is rushing to the rescue – During our home visits, our heroes come directly to a child’s home or hospital room.

Our heroes surprise the children with a knock on the door and bring magic into their own four walls.

DOSSIER is an independent and non-profit editorial team that conducts and promotes investigative and data journalism.

The idea behind founding DOSSIER was the realization that in-depth, time-consuming research that thoroughly examines topics and issues is becoming increasingly rare. Economic constraints too often prevent journalists from accessing the resources they need for their work: time, money, and independence. Journalism, democracy, and society fall by the wayside. Herzkinder is an Austria-wide contact point for children/adolescents with heart disease and adults with congenital heart defects.

We offer support, advice, and assistance to parents of children with heart disease, and they can share their experiences with other affected parents. For those seeking advice, we provide specific, specialized information, establish contacts, and listen to them when they want to share their hearts.

DANK DIR is an online donation platform for children with mental and/or physical disabilities in Austria with the purpose of financing urgently needed therapies or medical devices.

In addition, DANK DIR supports special expenditures for equipment that promotes inclusion (bicycles for people with disabilities, etc.) or adaptations in the living area.

By the way, every euro donated goes 100% to one of the children!

The Wichtel Challenge is a project that fulfills the heartfelt wishes of socially disadvantaged people. The initiative operates in Austria, Germany, Slovenia, and Switzerland.

Hope for the Future currently primarily addresses people in Austria who work or have worked in prostitution and are seeking to change their life situation.

When the opportunity arises for those affected to leave, they are usually deeply traumatized by their experiences, have little knowledge of the local language, and must be slowly and gradually integrated back into everyday life. This is where HOPE FOR THE FUTURE provides support.

Selling street newspapers helps alleviate the hardship of people excluded from the labor market for various reasons (the homeless, the long-term unemployed, asylum seekers, etc.), as they receive half of the sales price. Professional social workers from AUGUSTIN are at their side.

The newspaper defines itself on the one hand as a city newspaper, also with entertaining elements, and on the other hand as a forum for radical criticism of all forms of social injustice and as a platform for marginalized topics.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation® fulfills the wishes of critically ill children between the ages of 3 and 18.

Whatever the wishes may be, they all have one thing in common – if they are fulfilled, the children gain new courage and can forget suffering and illness for a while.

Since the founding of the Make-A-Wish Foundation® Austria, more than 1.700 wishes have been fulfilled.

For 50 years, the audio library of the Austrian Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired has been providing blind and severely visually impaired people who can no longer read a book for health reasons with literature and general information on audio recordings.

We have set ourselves the goal of maintaining and expanding the library's collection to reflect the offerings of public libraries and bookstores. This way, our users can find all genres of past and contemporary literature, from cookbooks to popular and challenging nonfiction, from cornerstones of world literature to entertaining works and even poetry considered difficult.

The audiobook library currently has over 15.000 titles, serving over 1.400 listeners across Austria. Dozens of books are recorded each year in its own recording studio.

AmberMed means outpatient medical care, social counselling and medication assistance for people without insurance coverage.

AmberMed provides low-threshold, interpreter-supported access to medical care for people without health insurance. AmberMed also offers medication assistance and social counseling. Our focus is on the people we treat, their life stories, and their needs.

Founded in 1994, the association “CBMF – Club of Disabled People and their Friends” strives to offer leisure activities to people with disabilities, to advocate for social policy issues, and to promote inclusion and independence.

Our basic goal is to enable people with disabilities to live a largely self-determined and dignified life, integrated into society, taking into account their personal interests, needs and wishes, through active advocacy, the development of a leisure infrastructure and through advice and support.

The association an.doc.stelle advises and supports people in biopsychosocial crises and provides information on various topics related to psychosocial health.

A multi-professional team—consisting of a doctor, social workers, a psychologist, sex and relationship counselors, four psychotherapists, trans* buddies, a qualified nurse, and a lawyer—supports people in challenging life situations: low-threshold, appreciative, prompt, unbureaucratic, and free of charge.
