PCs für alle at pulse 4

On April 4th, we visited Cafe Puls and were able to talk about the association and our work.

We are trying to ensure that "poor" people have the same opportunities for education and participation in the digital world and society as financially well-off people.

Since the association was founded in 2020, we have distributed well over 18.000 PCs to students, charitable NGOs, and people who cannot afford new devices.

We have around 20 volunteers working for us, and we regularly offer students the opportunity to complete internships with us.

Volkshilfe recently published a current study on the topic of child poverty.

  • - 28% of respondents believe that they need playgrounds with heating options to protect their children from the cold.
  • - 21% need warm clothing,
  • - 26% would like to have warming rooms.

And this affects at least 360.000 children in Austria who are so disadvantaged that they have no opportunities from an early age.
We can probably all agree that families who don't even have warm clothes for their children hardly have money for computers, cultural activities, tutoring, etc. Here is the link to the 2022 poverty data. People's Aid for Child Poverty

Of course, in the social Darwinist tradition, one can assume that those affected are to blame and just unlucky. However, the adherents of this ideology, which incidentally led directly to eugenics, overlook the enormous potential being wasted.
There are already almost no jobs in Austria for people who are poorly educated, and this will certainly remain the case.

If you don't believe that, you can try to find work for someone who can barely read and write - I wish you lots of fun in reality.
A high-ranking Austrian politician recently quoted her grandmother as saying, "No one gives a shit about conscience...", but I'm just wondering what will happen to those who aren't needed?
Do we let them starve?

we - the club PCs für alle - try to do something about it and thank you for your support
