Shaher Alyousef
He came to Austria as a refugee and has built a new life here. Shaher is a qualified educator and helped build a school in Syria. He has also been active in refugee aid in Austria for many years. Here is a report about him and his incredible achievements. ZackZack magazine about Shaher. For his commitment, he was honored with the Ute Bock Prize by the Integration House. www.fraubock.at
She studied business administration at the Vienna University of Economics and Business. In 2016, she founded "KleinKram." The textile products were produced in selected workshops that ensured good jobs for Indian women. Since 2009, she has been volunteering for "PCs für alle“ supports them in collecting the donated equipment.
I am at the Linz location at PCs für alleI particularly enjoy building custom Small Form Factor (ITX) PCs – compact, powerful, and perfectly tailored to specific needs. In my work, I'm passionate about sharing technology in a resource-efficient and meaningful way. Sustainability and digital inclusion are my top priorities.
A do-gooder™ by conviction. In addition to my main job as an ICT administrator, I travel to all sorts of concerts, festivals, and events on the side to avoid the daily grind of an office job and also get in some physical work. First and foremost, I'm a good problem solver and have enjoyed tinkering with computers and electronics since I was a child – if I can also help people with it, all the better! In my free time, I can usually be found at concerts, hikes, or climbing walls.
Karin is a health and nursing teacher and works in the training of intensive care and anesthesia nurses. She wants children to have equal educational opportunities, regardless of their parents' financial means. The health crisis is showing us the areas in which Austria has deficits. Education is important for children's futures and, in conjunction with digitalization, a great resource. That's why she is involved in PCs für alle.
Janos is currently a student at the University of Vienna (master's degree in history and archival science) and has already successfully campaigned for Amnesty International as a fundraiser, among other things. He has been working extensively with computers and other technical devices since early childhood, which is why he already brings extensive experience to his work with "PC for All."
Louai is accepting equipment donations for us at his photo shop at Praterstraße 42, 1020 Vienna. Thank you so much for your support and all the best for the future.
Having arrived in Austria from Ukraine as a war refugee in March 2022, he has built a new life here. Always open to new things, he wants to learn computer repair skills and, through his work with us, gives back a little of what he has always gratefully received from Austria for his life, both for himself and his extended family. "I think it's nice to have the opportunity to do good with my small contribution and to be grateful." I enjoy taking on new challenges in my life in Austria. In Ukraine, I trained as an electronics engineer and worked in nuclear power plants as an engineer for measuring devices, automatic regulators, and as a teacher. This is the reason and motivation why I decided to participate in PCs for All and thus make a small contribution to Austria and this noble idea.
Yetian has been a steadfast supporter of PCs for All since 2023, driven by her passion for addressing inequality in all its forms—digital divide, educational disparities, and economic inclusion. With a background in public diplomacy and cross-cultural business development, Yetian previously served the Austrian Embassy in China and represented the Arlberg Region in the Chinese market, fostering economic and cultural ties. Now rooted in Austria, she holds a commercial license for business consulting and considers Austria her home, where she continues to contribute to social impact and community resilience.
Since completing his apprenticeship in the graphic arts industry, he has been involved in many different areas, whether in the craft, creative, or social spheres. He is always interested in communicative and well-organized work in productive, volunteer settings. His motto is: "Take what you get and share it!"
Singer and music educator, she lives and works in Vienna. As a singer, she performs internationally in the classical music world (Salzburg Festival, Zurich Opera House, Vienna), and with her band Cabrioletta & die Jonnys, she delights audiences from Vienna to Switzerland, from Salzburg to Berlin.
In my youth, my enthusiasm for computer games and the limited accessibility of suitable hardware ignited my passion for "creative tinkering." Although my interest in gaming has waned, my love of technology remains deeply rooted in my life. Besides technology, I enjoy repairing things. I use this talent in "PCs für alle"where I can pursue my hobby in a meaningful way to positively influence people's lives.
I joined the club two years ago PCs für alle I had heard that the association provides computers to people from Ukraine, and I needed one, as I had to flee to Vienna with my family shortly before the war. I've always been very interested in computers, and I'm also happy that I can help so many people through my work here. Note from Peter Bernscherer: Tymur has become one of our best and most reliable colleagues in the last two years. Not bad for a 14-year-old, right? :)
I'm Federico, born in 1997 in Northern Italy. My curiosity for new experiences brought me to Vienna, where I decided to start an adventure abroad. I discovered my passion for technology at sixteen, and today I get to live it every day as an IT technician.
Graduated industrial engineer and business information technology specialist, with a keen interest in technology and people, happy to help and willing to do anything :)
'Incorrigible do-gooder - probably that's why I spent 10 years in research as an environmental biotechnologist, until a few months ago I came to 'PCs für alle'.My computer repair knowledge is (still) largely limited to the AEG principle (switch off - switch on - works), which is why I am more likely to be found in the area of computer contracting.
A veteran of software development. Certainly the most experienced member of our team, he has witnessed and shaped the development of IT for over 50 years. Born 72 years ago and more active than many a young boy :)
I'm a trained graphic designer, briefly studied mathematics, and am currently studying for an IT degree. My free time consists entirely of keeping my pet rats away from cables. Since mid-2022, I've been helping out at the workshop in the 4th district.
I grew up many decades ago in Burgenland, near the Hungarian border. The introduction of free textbooks made it possible for me to attend secondary school. After graduating, I moved to Vienna and stayed. At the age of 38, I earned a degree in general mechanics. Until my sudden hearing loss, I worked in a bicycle repair shop where welding, soldering, and frame alignment were still done. I also worked as a building caretaker and served as a works council representative for my colleagues. I learned about the "PCs for All" initiative through a newspaper. I'm delighted to be involved and to be able to make a small contribution!
Sasa V., owner of a small IT company called Comptech www.comptech.at Born in 1985 in Tuzla, married, father of a wonderful daughter. It is especially because of her that he is committed to social causes. Quote: "I want my daughter to grow up in a fair society and with an intact environment."
Daniel has been working in banking for over 25 years, specializing in business analysis and application development. He has lived in Vienna for almost 20 years and, through the association, found the opportunity to get involved in social projects and support those in need.
I like numbers, numbers, and numbers, as well as making phone calls for good causes! I'm responsible for accounting and, together with Elisabeth S., the master of the phones and emails.
Richard G., a psychotherapist, is interested in anything that seems complicated. He is enthusiastic about the idea of avoiding waste and making education accessible.
"Pressing colorful, flashing buttons. And colors." I would have answered as a child when asked about my dream job. And somehow, I was able to fulfill that dream in various fields: from electrician to typographer, from editor to broadcast planner, from support to operations—and now to system administrator in a technical office. And—flashing lights everywhere! While looking for buyers for PCs that were no longer usable in the company but were still good machines, I stumbled upon Peter and "PCs for All." I liked the idea so much that I had to get involved immediately.
He found the club via Twitter and is passionate about preventing devices from being thrown away. Joe is a very helpful person who repairs practically everything himself (especially laptops). He has been working in IT since 2004 and has gained a wealth of experience. Even more than repairing things, he enjoys making music (singing, guitar, and much more) and has already explored several genres. Currently in the Austropop genre, more at:
I bring many years of IT experience and extensive knowledge from management positions, as well as from working with many countries and cultures, and I'm delighted to be part of the PC4Alle team. I enjoy making donated computers usable again and supporting people who are less privileged. I find it particularly exciting to give old technologies and devices a new lease on life.
Translator for German, English and Serbian with a degree from the University of Vienna, hobby bassist and PC hobbyist with a preference for gaming PCs and a weakness for ITX systems
A Vorarlberg native living in the big city, he works in IT and is always open to new ideas. Eric turned his hobby into his profession. Through PCs for All, he turned his profession into his hobby.
She is a software engineer with a degree in computer engineering and has experience working in the IT field. She has also been involved in various volunteer activities in this area. Currently, she is collaborating with our team as a volunteer, striving to use her IT knowledge and skills to help others and make a positive impact.
Born in Vienna, she has lived in Vienna again since 2006 and works as a native-speaker editor for the Journal of Curriculum Studies. She has worked for many years at international organizations such as the UN and the ITU in Geneva. She is also a writer whose short stories have been published worldwide, and her first novel, "All the Beautiful Liars," was published in paperback in April 2021. www.flodobooks.com Responsible for international fundraising within the association—that is, begging at the highest level.
I'm very interested in computers and consoles and am very knowledgeable about both. I also enjoy programming in Lua and Python and am currently learning C#. I've been with "PCs for All" since the beginning of the 2025 school year and absolutely love it. Bernhard Steininger
Christoph studied business informatics at the Vienna University of Economics and Business and has been passionate about computers since childhood. Breathing new life into broken hardware brings him joy, as it allows him to make a small contribution to environmental protection. Through his work with the association, he wants to use his passion and fascination for technology to help others.
He was socialized through and in: Arena occupation, Castle Garden Movement, Resistance to the Zwentendorf Nuclear Power Plant, Stopfenreuther Au. He is a trained electrician, worked at Apple in the mid-80s, completed an apprenticeship as a prepress technician, and worked in prepress. Since the beginning of the millennium, he has been doing "everything related to building services." In 2009, he also completed the CompTIA Network+ network training. In the club, Cl__An is the laptop technician. Hobbies: Bouldering, Hiking, Dancing, Standard Gold. Social conscience: "PCs for All."
A fairy godmother who fetches and delivers everything to ensure the project succeeds. She also transports large quantities of PCs and monitors from A to B, near and far. She lends a hand wherever it's needed, whether it's installing a PC or tidying up the workshop. A Germanist, computer scientist, and climbing instructor, she now supports PCs for All because it's important to make a small contribution to making things work. And with her therapy dog, Stella, she brings variety and joy.
I've been a user with a passion for first-level support for my colleagues throughout my professional life. Now, in the third trimester of my life, I can still learn a lot while tinkering around here at the club, give old hardware a second life, and give other people the chance to acquire digital skills with our refurbished devices. A true win-win-win situation :-)))
Student at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, Design Investigations (formerly Industrial Design 2). Since childhood, I've taken things apart out of curiosity. Now I can fix them again :) As a fan of vintage aesthetics, I've developed a preference over the years for perhaps too old hardware :D I'm happy to have found a place in Vienna where old hardware is given a new lease on life.
For the past few months, I've been volunteering with the "PC for All" association. My main focus there is repairing, installing, and configuring computers. I really enjoy this work because it allows me to further develop my technical skills while simultaneously supporting people who need access to working computers. For me, this commitment combines technology, sustainability, and social responsibility.
What else could we write? I've always been passionate about PCs and social media, and PCs for All brings that together. DStoffguru: Textile printing, graphics, and website, owner. Verein Mut: Social media and website.
A former teacher and lecturer at teacher training colleges, a volunteer and highly socially engaged person, and a specialist in "facts & figures," Regina had known Peter and his social commitment for some time before he set about founding the association and asked her to volunteer as a board member. "Because I was very aware of Peter's commitment to helping people in need and thought the idea of donating PCs to students from financially challenged families was simply good and necessary, I immediately agreed," Regina says. "From my 25 years as a German as a second language teacher, I knew only too well how many children are left behind in our education system. And in times of homeschooling, it has simply become catastrophic for too many students!"
As the principal of a middle school in Upper Austria, Doris Neuhofer guides young people between the ages of 10 and 14 on their journey. As an adult educator, she works in the areas of continuing education, Holocaust education, and communication training. In her free time, she enjoys music and art. And then there's coffee, which she can't live without. She works behind the scenes for the association, writing all kinds of texts, advising on educational issues, and on various applications.
He studied medicine and biomedical engineering. He is interested in politics, society, and technology. He supports "PCs for All" in PR and fundraising, but occasionally installs the devices himself.
By profession, he's the managing director of the Association for the Enforcement of the Rights of Victims of Discrimination. Prior to that, he represented the interests of the Austrian environmental movement and volunteered for an NGO specializing in asylum and migration. He's a democracy fan, a long-distance runner, and a dog lover.
I completed my studies in Nigeria as a secretary and worked as a secretary in a municipal department in my country before traveling to Austria. In Austria, I initially completed career orientation with a focus on German and IT. I was then able to gain my first professional experience in the IT department of Herold Business Data GmbH for over 10years. Due to savings measures during the Corona period, this employment relationship was terminated. However, I have a great passion for the IT sector so I was able to complete the training to become aMicrosoft Azure Administrator and am currently in the phase of the final exams.I enjoy taking on new challenges and it goes without saying that I have a high level of motivation for continuous training in this area of work, this is one of the reasons I decided to join or contribute to humanity through PCs for All and I would like to contribute my strengths, my knowledge and the practical experience I have gained. She studied psychology and photography. She has been volunteering for NGOs and political initiatives since her youth. Professionally, she is a journalist and filmmaker, among other things. Between 2003 and 2005, she served as the federal chairwoman of the Austrian Student Union and launched "Macken," the first child-friendly coffee house in Vienna. She then worked as an editor and program manager at ORF until 2014. In 2015, she launched the urban and educational family magazine "Familie Rockt" and, through her articles and dedication, helped many families in need find housing, apprenticeships, and other support. As a foster mother, she regularly gives encouraging lectures for prospective foster parents, is active in the women's rights organization "Terre des Femmes," and supports the association "NF Kinder." Ilija is currently studying medical informatics at the Vienna University of Technology. Since he was a child, he has been interested in technical devices and cars and enjoys tinkering with them.
Paul came across “PCs for All” via Twitter and is enthusiastic about the cause. “As a half-Finnish person, I think it’s a shame that there are no Nokia PCs, but that doesn’t stop me from PCs für alle to help wherever possible." Paul has been working in IT for 20 years and helps out at our location in the 3rd district with his friendly and humorous manner.
He became aware of the club through a TV report and was immediately enthusiastic about the great idea. Stefan has worked for a large communications company for a long time in various roles and helps with all aspects of the work, whether it's transporting equipment, setting up PCs, or organizing the club. "I think it's nice to feel so directly that I'm doing good."
Born in Kyiv in 1983, I hold a bachelor's degree in computer engineering and a master's degree in telecommunications and radio engineering, both from Kyiv University. I have three wonderful children and an even more wonderful wife. We all had to flee Ukraine and are now trying to make a new start in Vienna.

Martin is a freelance web developer with over 20 years of experience in implementing digital projects. His focus is on user-friendly design, clean code, and sustainable web development, ideally with a social impact. In addition to his work for companies, he volunteers for the association PCs für alle and ensures that not only devices but also digital opportunities reach where they are most urgently needed. When he's not developing new features or testing websites for accessibility, he enjoys tinkering with ideas on how technology can make the world a fairer place.
He joined the association after an article in Wien Heute in February 2021. He studied technical physics and retired in 28 after 10 years at Siemens and 2019 years as an IT consultant for a non-profit organization. Peter is self-taught when it comes to PCs and has turned his hobby into a profession/vocation. He works for the association on a daily basis and is very familiar with Linux. He prepares netbooks and notebooks that are too slow for Windows but allow smooth operation with Xubuntu. In the spirit of sustainability, he is married to a banker and has a primary school-age daughter with whom he speaks exclusively English.
Peter worked for a global computer manufacturer for 35 years and, even in retirement, can't resist dismantling the inner workings of PCs and breathing new life into them. Peter lives in Graz and Vienna and joined us in February 41 through Club 2021 Graz, which supports social projects, and founded our branch in the greater Graz area.
My motto: My best tool has always been my mouth. 25 years in tourism. 15 years in complaint management. 2 years in retirement and I'm still talking. --> always
Sigrid found the association via Twitter. Her social commitment has already taken her to a village in Kenya, to the kitchen of the Caritas Grut, and to many stages as a choir member, together with refugees living in Vienna.PCs für alleShe is primarily responsible for correspondence with donors and recipients, but also enjoys helping out in the workshop.
Studies computer science at the Technikum Wien and loves tinkering with computers. Joined at the end of 2021, works in the workshop, and is happy that old devices can still be of use to someone.
Graduated from HTL St. Pölten in 2022, since then Application Developer at ATOS. I believe that commitment, especially social commitment, is very important. And if I can combine my interest in technology, computers, and software development with it... all the better. At the club PCs für alle This is completely possible and is fun.
One of Dominik's primary hobbies is sleeping. Thanks to his social commitment and fulfilling work for the "PCs for All" organization, he falls asleep faster at night, especially with the peace of mind and knowledge that he has helped provide access to education and the job market for people in need. His IT background and his ability to use a screwdriver also benefit his work for the organization.
