Students bring laptops to life

Around 100 discarded laptops are getting a second chance – thanks to dedicated students from the Evangelical Gymnasium and Vocational School in Vienna and the generous support of mobile network operator Drei. Once again, young people from the Evangelical Gymnasium and Vocational School in Vienna's 1030rd district have joined forces with the association PCs für alle A hands-on effort: As part of a joint refurbishment project, around 100 laptops were overhauled, cleaned, and prepared for distribution to people in need. The devices were provided by the mobile network operator Drei – a long-standing and reliable partner of PCs für alleDREI has been supporting the association for many years, making an important contribution to digital inclusion in Austria. "When students work together with their teacher and a company like DREI donates devices, it creates real impact – for people who would otherwise have no access to digital technology." The young people were accompanied by Professor Roncat, who not only took over the organization but also lent a hand himself. His commitment shows how sustainable education and social engagement can go hand in hand. PCs für alle DREI extends its heartfelt thanks for its ongoing support, as well as to the Evangelical Gymnasium and Vocational School Vienna – teachers and students alike – for their exceptional commitment. Together, we are making digital inclusion possible. DREI website Evangelical Gymnasium and Vocational School website https://www.pcsfueralle.at/aktuelles/250-computer-fuer-die-karawane--teil-2-331

Generous donation: ÖAMTC supports digital participation with over 300 devices

Generous donation: ÖAMTC supports digital participation with over 300 devices

A big step towards digital inclusion. We are delighted to receive exceptional support: The ÖAMTC has given our association "PCs für alle"Over 300 used but fully functional laptops and tablets were donated. This generous donation in kind is a strong sign of social responsibility in action and impressively demonstrates how companies can make a real difference through sustainable practices. Enabling digital participation: In an increasingly digital society, access to computers and the internet is no longer a luxury, but a prerequisite for education, employment, and social participation. This is precisely where our work comes in: We professionally refurbish donated IT equipment and pass it on to people who cannot afford their own devices. The donation from ÖAMTC enables us to provide hundreds of families, students, job seekers, and people in difficult circumstances with urgently needed IT equipment. Sustainability meets social commitment: The collaboration with ÖAMTC exemplifies how ESG responsibility (Environmental, Social, Governance) works in practice: Environmental: By reusing functional IT equipment, premature disposal is avoided and valuable resources are conserved. Every Reusing devices means less electronic waste and a smaller CO₂ footprint – an important contribution to the circular economy. Social: The donated devices reduce the digital divide and create equal opportunities. Whether for online learning, job applications, or staying in touch with family and friends – these laptops and tablets open doors and enable participation. Governance: With this initiative, ÖAMTC demonstrates that responsible resource management and social commitment are firmly anchored in its corporate strategy. Our heartfelt thanks: We thank the entire ÖAMTC team and especially Robert Scharner, Christian Seidl, Bettina Wieser, and Pamela Bacher for their tremendous commitment and support. Thanks to partners like these, we can fulfill our mission: to shape a digital future in which everyone can truly participate. This donation makes a real difference in the lives of many people. Thank you, ÖAMTC. www.oeamtc.at

A generous server donation enables digital participation.

A generous server donation enables digital participation.

Thanks to a generous donation in kind, we can now provide many people and organizations with access to professional server hardware. This generous gesture demonstrates once again how important personal commitment is for digital inclusion. A special donation: Mr. Bodo Brinkmann, who is responsible for IT support at several Viennese schools, received a remarkable donation of equipment from a former student of one of these schools: 25 fully functional HP DL380 Gen9 servers, each equipped with two CPUs and ample RAM. Mr. Brinkmann has passed on some of this valuable hardware to our association; the rest will soon be deployed in schools. Digital education for all: Behind this generous donation is Mr. Christian Haase of Digimagical, www.digimagical.com, who is making an important contribution to digital inclusion with this initiative. We will distribute some of the high-performance servers to NGOs and educational institutions, where they will provide students and other people in need with access to modern IT equipment. We will sell another portion to cover our running costs – this donation comes at just the right time, like a Christmas present, and helps us continue our important work. Our thanks: We sincerely thank Mr. Christian Haase for his donation and Mr. Bodo Brinkmann for his mediation and commitment. Initiatives like these impressively demonstrate how personal dedication and generosity can make digital inclusion possible for everyone.

Many thanks to Schwabe Austria

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Schwabe Austria for their generous donation in kind. The company provided us with a pallet of PCs as well as numerous iPads and smartphones – devices that are invaluable to our work. Corporate Social Responsibility in Action: This donation is an impressive example of corporate social responsibility in action and demonstrates how companies can make a positive contribution to society through concrete actions. Schwabe Austria impressively proves that economic success and social commitment go hand in hand. ESG Aspects in Focus: The equipment donation from Schwabe Austria combines several important ESG dimensions: Social: By providing high-quality technology, Schwabe Austria enables digital participation and creates access to modern work tools. This directly contributes to equal opportunities and social integration. Environmental: Instead of disposing of functional devices, they are given a meaningful purpose by being passed on. This extends the product lifecycle, saves valuable resources, and reduces electronic waste – an important contribution to the circular economy and environmental protection. Governance: The systematic organization and professional handling of the donation demonstrates that social commitment is firmly anchored in the company's values and is not just a one-off gesture. Special thanks to Mr. Goran Bosnjakovic: A special thank you goes to Mr. Goran Bosnjakovic from Schwabe's IT administration, who professionally organized the entire donation campaign and personally handled the handover. 250 Computers for the Caravan of Humanity Part 1

A strong sign for global sustainability. Next week, things will get especially lively here: Students from the Evangelical Gymnasium (www.evgym.at) under the guidance of Prof. Andreas Roncat and a dedicated team from Dynatrace will be joining us to prepare 250 computers for the "Caravan of Humanity" (karawane-der-menschlichkeit.org). What's happening? We, the association "PCs für alle", available. In addition, we are equipping 150 laptops, donated to the Caravan of Humanity, with modern RAM and SSD hard drives – at our own expense. The laptops were donated by the association "Liebe im Karton" (Love in a Box) www.liebe-im-karton.de, and we received the RAM free of charge from the company Comptech (comptech.at). Achieving more together: This initiative demonstrates what is possible when different forces work together: Students learn practical IT skills and discover how technology can help people. IT professionals from Dynatrace (www.dynatrace.com/de) share their expertise and support the project. Our association provides the hardware and technical equipment. The Caravan of Humanity delivers the computers to northern Iraq – along with other urgently needed aid supplies. Why this is important: Digital participation is no longer a matter of choice – it is a prerequisite for education, job searching, communication, and social integration. With this initiative, we are jointly creating 250 new access points to the digital world – all the way to northern Iraq, where computers are especially urgently needed." needed. We are looking forward to this special week and thank everyone involved for their commitment! And here is the Dynatrace team with our colleagues: Carlos, Philip, David, and Armin from Dynatrace; Muhammad is doing an internship with us; and Slavko and Darko from PCs für alle

Statistics Austria is donating 200 PCs and 240 thin clients.

10.11.2025 ·  Peter Bernscherer

Statistics Austria is donating 200 PCs and 240 thin clients.

A special thank you goes to Statistics Austria, which recently supported us with a generous donation of 200 PCs and 240 thin clients. After refurbishment, these devices will enable many people to access the digital world. What exactly is a thin client? A thin client is a compact, usually fanless computer specifically designed for accessing servers and cloud applications. Unlike a conventional PC, it has less local processing power and storage space, as the actual programs and data run on a central server. Advantages of thin clients: Energy-efficient (often only 10-20 watts power consumption) Very quiet or silent (no fan) Durable and low-maintenance Compact design (often no larger than a paperback book) Ideal for office applications, internet, and email After refurbishment by PCs für alle Thin clients can be used as fully functional computers for everyday tasks – perfect for people who need an energy-efficient and reliable machine. Thanks to the people behind it! Such large donations are only possible when people in companies take action and advocate for meaningful redistribution. Our special thanks go to: Daniel Ledinger from the IT department of Statistics Austria, who initiated and coordinated the donation; Benjamin Halpern from the Huemer Group, who supported the logistics; Walter Huemer, head of ICT Austria and the Huemer Group, whose commitment demonstrates what corporate responsibility looks like in practice; and Beate Loinger from the association. PCs für allewho collected the devices and ensured their smooth transport. More than just computers: 440 devices mean: 440 people gain access to the digital world. Approximately half a ton of electronic waste avoided. Tons of CO₂ saved by avoiding new production. Digital participation for families, students, and job seekers. This donation is a perfect example of how cooperation between public institutions, businesses, and non-profit organizations can work. Discarded IT equipment gets a second life instead of ending up as e-waste – and people are given the opportunity for digital participation. Many thanks to Statistics Austria, Daniel Ledinger, Benjamin Halpern, Walter Huemer, and Beate Loinger! Do you also have IT equipment that is no longer needed? Silent Heroes: When Helping is More Important Than the Spotlight

Silent Heroes: When Helping is More Important Than the Spotlight

Some stories don't begin with grand pronouncements, but with a simple conviction: helping where help is needed. Mario Tousek and his company, Tousek GmbH (tousek.com/at-de/), are among those who have been working behind the scenes for years – consistently, reliably, and without fanfare. "I don't want to be in the spotlight; I want to help, and this is the best way for me to do it," Mario Tousek recently said in a phone call. This one sentence sums up what true support is all about: it's not about recognition, but about impact. Long-term partnership instead of a one-off gesture. As a long-time donor, Tousek GmbH has helped us refurbish and distribute over 32.000 computers free of charge. In addition, there are thousands of smartphones, tablets, printers, and network devices – all devices that enable people to participate digitally and simultaneously prevent hundreds of tons of electronic waste. What makes this support so valuable is its continuity. While many donate once and then move on, it is partners like Mario Tousek who have reliably stood by our side for years. They understand that sustainable help takes time and that every refurbished computer makes a real difference in someone's life. The foundation of our work: Such silent helpers are the foundation of PCs für alleThey enable us to continue every day – collecting, refurbishing, testing, and distributing computers to people who would otherwise have no access to the digital world. They make the difference between a good idea and a functioning project. We respect your wish to remain in the background. But we would still like to say thank you – for your years of loyalty, for your trust in our work, and for prioritizing helping others over visibility. Thank you, Mario Tousek. Thank you to everyone who, like you, quietly achieves great things. Would you also like to support us? Whether with in-kind donations, financial support, or volunteer work – every form of help counts. 270 PCs for a good cause: Austrian National Library supports PCs für alle

A strong sign of sustainability in practice: The Austrian National Library www.onb.ac.at has donated 270 PCs to the association PCs für alle donated. Instead of disposing of the devices unused, they are now given a second life. Our team carefully refurbishes all PCs, installs the necessary software, and makes them ready for use. The devices are then distributed free of charge to schools, charitable NGOs, and financially disadvantaged people. This combines ecological responsibility with social added value: resources are conserved because functional hardware is not wasted. Children, young people, and families gain access to digital education and thus new opportunities. Non-profit organizations benefit from modern IT that they would otherwise often not be able to afford. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Austrian National Library for this generous donation and for their trust in our work. Together, we are sending a clear message: digital participation and sustainability belong together. Many thanks to Richard Starkel, Managing Director of the National Library, and Marianne Witt, MSc., Sustainability Officer of the National Library, for their outstanding support.
